SASKATCHEWAN PAINTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP CIRCUIT

is a series of four tournaments alternating between Asquith and Prince Albert. It was the brainchild of Doug Brecht of P.A.G.A. Ten years ago he felt for any team to be able to claim the title of best paintball team in Saskatchewan that team should be able to play well on any course at any type of game. The way the circuit works is that teams will score points for their placing in each of the four tournaments in the circuit. The four events are the Saskatchewan Provincial Speedball Championship, The Santa Anonymous Tournament, The Charity Stock Classic, and the Share Charity Speedball Tourney. In 2004 two events will exist as satellite, or bonus point events. The Kobra Paintball 3 Man Speedball, and the BLITZ-Woods Center Flag event. In bonus tourneys the top five finishers receive bonus points to add to their circuit point total. A team may use points from both bonus events.

A 100 point system is used to determine the final Saskatchewan Provincial Paintball Champion. The way it works is the winner of a circuit event scores 100 points towards their circuit total. Second place gets 95, Third gets 90, Fourth gets 85, Fifth gets 80, Sixth gets 75, Seventh gets 70, Eighth gets 65, Ninth gets 60, Tenth gets 55, and Eleventh and lower get 50 points towards their totals for the Circuit championships.

Teams may not both Play and Referee in the same event. Teams which referee an event are responsible for providing individuals to referee the event. Teams no longer score Max Circuit Points for refereeing. For each referee they provide they will score 25% of 80 points , or, the average of their results in the other three circuit events(whichever is greater) to a maximum of 100%. They can provide more than 4 refs for an event but it still only gives 100% of the 80 points or average.

Example #1 Team A scores 80, 100, and 90 points in the first three circuit events. They provide 4 referees for the final event. For refereeing that event they would score (4x25%)x((80+100+90)/3)=90 points. . If they had provided 5 Refs they would still only score (4x25%)x((80+100+90)/3)=90 points. If they only provided 3 refs they would score (3x25%)x((80+100+90)/3)=67.5 points

Example #2 Team B scores 60, 70, and 80 points in the first three circuit events. They provide 4 referees for the final event. For refereeing that event they would score (4x25%)x((60+70+80)/3)=70 HOWEVER they are guaranteed a minimum of their average or 80, whichever is greater. Since their average is less than 80 this formula actually becomes (4x25%)x((80))=80 points which is what they would score for circuit points. If they only provided 3 refs this would become (3x25%)x((80))=60 circuit points.
